Burnham-On-Sea's only carnival club, Hillview JCC, is seeking volunteers with electrical and mechanical experience to help out with this year's float.
Hillview Juvenile Carnival Club won its class during the 2009 carnival circuit with its colourful 'Gee Wiz' entry and now it needs extra helpers as work begins on its new float for 2010.
Mark Bishop, Chairman of Hillview, said: "We'd like to hear from anyone who can spare some time to work on electrical and mechanical tasks. We're a very friendly group and a warm welcome is assured."
Those who are interested should attend this Sunday's AGM of the club at the Bristol Bridge Inn in Highbridge at 7pm.
'Gee Wiz', was awarded the top place in the Juvenile class on the second night of the carnival season, and also scooped the spectator's choice for Juvenile entries in the whole procession. On top of the two first places, the club also took joint 3rd with Harlequins in the Best Dressed Tractor Driver Category.
The club's electrician, John Carpenter, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It was an awesome night for Hillview, with us winning first place in our class plus two other awards for 'crowd's choice' and 'third best tractor driver'."
"It was a great night for the club's children on the cart - well done to all of them. We're now looking forward to bringing the cart home to Burnham on Monday to show the local people who have supported us throughout the year.

Another year has passed, and another Carnival season is over. Hillview ended the year with a 2nd place at Weston Carnival, resulting in the club finishing 3rd in the Juvenile category with Toppers JCC placed 2nd and Marina Sydenham JCC winning the County Cup for the second time in three years.
Hillview's cart captain Mark Bishop commented saying "After the marvelous carnival season we have just had, may I take this oppertunity to thank all the children and adult members of the club, who made this years carnival so fantastic. Congratulations must go to Marina Sydenham and Toppers for winning County Cups this year with their fantastic entries. May I also thank our sponsors and supporters - we couldn't have done it without you. To Margeret and Jacqui Wall of the Bristol Bridge Inn for all your patience, kindness and wonderful food! To Jason White and Stuart Carpenter who seem to give up their time every year to get us out of trouble at the drop of a hat, and also to Martin Wall who tows our generator trailor from town to town. I could on naming people all night who do marvelous work for the club, but those people know who they are. Last but not least I just feel I should mention our two newest adults members, Aron Whiting and Matt Lewis who between them have done everything asked of them, as well as set up the official club website. I hope they have enjoyed their first year and look forward to working with them for many more years to come!"
Work has now began to strip the cart back in preparation for the 2009 season. If anybody is interested in any of the models shown on this years entry then contact Aron Whiting on naj_somerset_rebels@msn.com. Thanks once again to everyone who has supported Hillview JCC throughout 2008.
